Walking from Bugis MRT
From Bugis MRT it is about a 5 minute walk. Make your way to North Bridge Road and head towards Sultan Mosque, whose golden dome is easy to spot over the shophouses. We are a few steps from the mosque at number 719.
If you are coming from the shopping streets around Bugis, it is an easy, flat walk. Look for the Sabar Menanti name on North Bridge Road.
Coming from Arab Street or Haji Lane
Arab Street, Haji Lane and Bussorah Street all sit within the same few blocks of Kampong Glam. From any of them, walk towards Sultan Mosque and on to North Bridge Road, and you will find us there.
Many guests do it the other way round: a plate with us first, then an afternoon wandering the textile shops of Arab Street and the boutiques of Haji Lane. One of our Google reviewers, Erni M. Kasim, put it simply: "For some local experience, try this place near Arab Street."

Driving and parking
There is street parking along North Bridge Road. The area gets busy at lunch and especially on Fridays around midday prayers at Sultan Mosque, when the roads and lots fill up quickly.
If you are driving for a big family meal, coming in the morning makes parking and seating easier. Call ahead on +65 6291 0109 if you are bringing a large group.
A note on our address
Some older articles and maps still list 747 North Bridge Road, the shop Maryulis opened in 1994 that many people knew as Sabar Menanti 2 or Sabar Menanti II. In 2022 we moved a few doors down. Our current address is 719 North Bridge Road, Singapore 198687.
Our family's history in the area goes back further still, to a push cart in the 1920s and a small restaurant at the corner of Bussorah Street from 1932. You can read it all on our story page.
What to order when you get here
Nasi padang is ordered by pointing. Pick your dishes at the counter and they are piled over steamed rice on one plate, gravy and all.
A good first plate is beef rendang, one vegetable and something with chilli. The spread changes daily; our menu lists the regulars.
- Beef Rendang: slow-cooked for hours in coconut and spice
- Ayam Kalio: chicken braised in a spiced coconut gravy
- Sayur Lodeh: a gentle yellow coconut curry of vegetables
- Telur Balado: boiled eggs in smoky red chilli
Halal, groups and ordering ahead
We are a Muslim-owned, halal-prepared kitchen. We are not MUIS halal-certified, so if your group needs certification, please take that into account before you come.
If you work around Bugis and want our food at the office instead, we do individually-packed bento sets from $10, bulk trays and a full catering set-up at $20 per person for a minimum of 40 people. Orders need at least five working days' notice, and the details are on our catering page.
